The X-TRAIL's 2.5 litre, 180 horsepower petrol engine with CVTC (Continuous Variable Valve Timing Control) has just about as much grunt as you could ever want in a Compact 4WD. X-TRAIL’s latest generation engine is one of the largest in its class.

The X-TRAIL also comes with 2.0-litre, 150 horsepower engine with CVTC (Continuous Variable Valve Timing Control). It is great on-road acceleration, overtaking performance and top speed, together with excellent fuel economy.

The system opens and closes the throttle electronically instead of using a conventional cable.

A minimum turning radius of just 5.3 meters (curb to curb) and responsive power steering provide excellent manoeuvrability.

With the X-TRAIL's Electronically Controlled Coupling, required torque is instantaneously supplied to all wheels when the accelerator is engaged. And that means no slip start-ups and responsive performance under all conditions.

To improve riding comfort, the optimum linkage geometry of the rear suspension (radius rod) allows for an angled trajectory of the rear wheels to minimize shock felt from road obstacles.
