Nissan e-POWER
Discover a more comfortable, responsive, quieter and efficient drive with Nissan e-POWER electric vehicle technology
e-POWER, a unique combination
e-POWER is an advanced technology that delivers a smooth driving experience with immediate pedal response, quiet operation from the electric motor that powers the car instead of a petrol engine, and effortless driving with the e-pedal Step, which eliminates the need to step on the brake.

BENEFITS
"Immediate response" without any hesitation
The moment you step on the accelerator pedal, there's an immediate response. Smooth acceleration is evident from the moment you start pressing the pedal.
Quiet and relaxing drive
100% motor driven. Achieving a surprisingly quiet interior space. Furthermore, the second generation is equipped with the world's first technology to hide engine sound from road noise.
Reduces fatigue caused by changing pedals
The engine is not used for drive, but only for power generation. By keeping the rotation speed constant during startup and predicting the amount of power generated, the startup frequency is kept to the minimum necessary.e-POWER control technology will evolve incrementally
Easily control speed with e-Pedal Step
The e-Pedal Step gives you the option to accelerate and decelerate effectively with just the accelerator pedal. Leaving the brake pedal for harder braking and coming to a complete stop.
Reduces fatigue caused by changing pedals
e-POWER generates electricity while accelerating when you press the accelerator and decelerating when you release it, which greatly reduces the number of times you have to change the pedal, reducing fatigue when driving.

How does it all work?
Fuelled by petrol, driven by electric
Discover a new driving experience without changing your habits. Keep using fuel but enjoy a responsive EV-like driving experience.
Recharges on the go
You don’t need to plug-in an e-POWER vehicle. The petrol engine produces energy that charges the battery when the vehicle needs it. The petrol engine produces energy that can either be directly supplied to the electric motor or to recharge the battery. The electric motor alone drives the vehicle’s wheels.
Recycles energy from braking
Unlocked through Nissan’s e-Pedal, the regenerative braking system on e-POWER converts kinetic energy from deceleration into electrical energy, and feeds it back to the battery.

All your questions answered
Nissan’s e-POWER is unique as the wheels are only ever provided power by the electric motor –and this electric motor is provided power by a combination of the VC-Turbo petrol engine and lithium-ion battery.
In a 100% electric vehicle, the motor driving the wheels is only provided power by a large lithium-ion battery, which you have to plug-in to charge. With a fully electric vehicle you experience zero emissions while driving.
In a traditional hybrid vehicle, power can be provided to the wheels by the engine, the electric motor or a combination of both. The battery that provides power to the motor is recharged by the engine. As power is provided to the wheels in different ways, the way the vehicle drives will vary.
e-POWER gives the feeling of driving an electric vehicle, without the need to plug in.
The components that make up the e-POWER powertrain consists of:
– An Electric motor that drives the wheels
– A Lithium-Ion battery which powers the electric motor
– An internal combustion engine which generates energy for the battery and electric motor
– A Power Generator which converts mechanical energy to electrical energy
– An Inverter which manages the energy recieved from the engine to charge the Lithium-Ion battery and/or power the electric motor
Thanks to some clever technology, your e-POWER vehicle will automatically activate the internal combustion engine when the charge level of the Lithium-Ion battery drops below a certain level.
You can check on the status of the e-POWER powertrain via the energy flow diagram, displayed on the vehicle’s combimeter. This will display; battery state of charge, when the engine is running, brake regeneration and more.
For quicker recharging, e-POWER uses a smaller lithium-ion battery compared to a standard Nissan electric vehicle.
