KUALA LUMPUR, 5 December 2025 – Since its introduction in Japan in the 1990s, the Nissan Serena has set the standards in the mid-sized MPV segment with its unsurpassed usability and versatility. The award-winning qualities of Serena have also proven to be a best-selling hit with MPV buyers in Malaysia, widely appreciated for its practicality, dependability and fuel efficiency. 

As the first ever hybrid-powered MPV back in 2013, the C26 Serena S-Hybrid offered innovative fuel-saving technology on top of a clever interior that met all the needs to be a versatile people carrier. This was succeeded by the C27 Serena S-Hybrid showcasing cutting-edge active safety features along with thoughtful conveniences that made it a favourite for families.

Now in its sixth generation, the C28-generation All-New Nissan Serena e-POWER is rewriting the rulebook once again with its 100% electric motor-driven powertrain which promises an elevated level of vehicle performance and driving pleasure unheard of in the mid-sized MPV segment.

Discovering the excitement of e-POWER

The main components in the e-POWER drive system of the All-New Nissan Serena e-POWER comprises a high-performance electric motor drive unit rated at 163PS and 315Nm, a new 1.4-litre internal combustion engine dedicated to generating electricity and a compact 1.769kWh lithium-ion battery pack. 

The new HR14DDe 1.4L 3-cylinder engine, which functions solely as a generator, features direct injection with Mirror Bore Coating technology that reduces friction, vibration and noise, resulting in imperceptibly smooth and refined operation when it is called upon to replenish the battery pack and to supply energy to power the electric motor directly.   

As the All-New Nissan Serena e-POWER is driven solely by electric motor, the instant torque delivery enables quick and smooth acceleration. The immediate response and characteristics of the e-POWER drive system is no different from that of an electric vehicle, and since the system charges itself, e-POWER eliminates the hassles of external charging and the dreaded range anxiety associated with pure EVs.

The e-POWER drive system is 100% electric motor-driven utilising a petrol engine to produce energy to charge its Li-ion battery pack and to power the electric motor which drive the wheels. It offers instant torque and responsive performance just like an EV, without range anxiety and the need to plug in and charge.
